A Divine Encounter In Shirdi: Sai Baba’s Personal Darshan

This article recounts the blog author’s family’s encounter with a Fakir Baba during their visit to Shirdi, Who turned out to be Sai Baba Himself. The incident demonstrates that Sai Baba gives darshan to those who come to Shirdi, and He only calls them.

Last year, during Makar Sankranti on January 14, 2007, my family and I visited Shirdi. We wanted to offer til and Gud (jaggery) laddoos to Sai Baba, so my mother prepared them beforehand. We attended Kakad Arti and Mangal Snan and then offered the Prasad in the Samadhi Mandir. Afterward, we distributed the Prasad at Dwarkamai, and we were left with only two laddoos. A colleague had suggested that we visit Baijabai’s house, so we started walking from the opposite of Dwarkamai. We reached a place from where Laxmibai’s house was visible, but we were not aware of it. A Fakir Baba was sitting there and he told us that Laxmibai’s house was in front of us. We took his help to reach there and had the darshan of the Holy Coins that Sai Baba had given to Laxmibai. We were overwhelmed with joy, but the best was yet to come.

The Fakir Baba came along with us and showed us the house of Mhalsapatiji and even Madhavrao Deshpande’s grandson’s house. My father wanted to give him money for his noble deed, but he denied it and instead asked for food. However, our foodstuff was at the hotel, which was quite far from where we were. My mother then remembered the laddoos and gave them to him. As He received the laddoos, a great sense of satisfaction appeared on His face, and we felt as though He was happy with what we gave Him. Later, we realized that the Fakir Baba was none other than Sai Baba Himself, Who had accepted our Prasad by coming in person. This incident proved to us that Sai Baba gives darshan to those who come to Shirdi, as He calls them.

  1. Jai Sai Ram…
its a wonderful experience …and moreover two laddos signifies Shradha and Saburi that baba jee have always been asking for …what a coincidence that only two laddos were remaining…truly a divine experience.

  2. @Gagan ji,

    Sai Ramji,

Yes indeed it is sheer co-incidence that only two laddoos were left. Lord Sai Baba did take Shraddha and Saburi from us to get enrolled in His darbar 🙂 Thanks for pointing out.

May Lord Sai Baba Bless & Guide Us All.

  3. Yes I also agreed that these two laddoos were accepted by BABA as Shradha & Saburi.
You and your family members are really fortunate to have Baba's darshan in physical form.

    Om Sai Ram
